Good Evening. I wanted to touch bases with everyone as we start to see a rise in cases of COVID-19 within our communities. All of the staff at Starpoint have been amazing at adhering to the various precautions and recommendations that we continue to implement. Each office, home, and work site continues to wear masks, social distance as much as possible, complete daily temperature and symptom checks, and maintain stringent sanitizing and cleaning schedules. I can’t thank each of you enough for your efforts in these areas as they are key to preventing the spread of COVID-19. We serve various high risk populations within our agency and adhering to these precautions continues to be important – now more than ever. Do not let your guard down now as we see an increase in cases. Please be aware of your time spent in the offices and homes and limit contact with others. You can use emails, phones, or even zoom to communicate with other staff within the agency and are encouraged to do so. We also ask that you remember the high risk population that you serve when you are participating in social activities outside of work so that you are not exposing them when you return.
As we continue to learn about the spread of COVID -19, when to quarantine, when to isolate, when to test etc. we will take each scenario involving our staff members on a case by case basis. We are in contact with Public Health when warranted to ensure we are following all recommendations that are provided to us. If you have concerns about being exposed to COVID -19 recently or are showing signs or symptoms of illness, please contact your supervisor as soon as possible to determine the best course of action to safeguard yourself and others from the potential spread and to discuss leave options if needed.
If you are showing symptoms of illness or are asymptomatic you can be tested at Fremont county Public Health. They offer a drive through testing site to limit exposure to those who arrive. This drive through testing site is available Monday through Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. We have found that the results from these tests have quick turnaround times so that you are able to make necessary plans for quarantine or returning to work. Additional information can be found at the Fremont County Public Health website at https://www.fremontco.com/public-health/public-health-and-environment .
For our employees in Chaffee County, Public Health is offering free COVID-19 community testing every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. This is taking place outside of the Touber Building at City Hall in Salida. Also, free testing is occurring in Buena Vista every Wednesday, from 9:30 – 11 a.m. at 114 Linderman Ave. The Chaffee County Public Health website is https://chaffeecounty.org/Public-Health-Coronavirus for additional testing information.
Most importantly, please continue to be very aware of your interactions with others and the precautions you are taking on a daily basis to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible. I truly appreciate all the hard work and dedication to those we serve that I see on a daily basis. The determination from many staff to continue to be flexible and positive during this time is critical to not only the success of Starpoint but to lifting up coworkers, clients and colleagues. Thank you for your support and understanding during this time as we continue to navigate how this virus has impacted our agency, our employees, and the individuals we serve.
Thanks,
